3 women killed in lightning strikes in Bihar

Three women were killed and another was injured after lightning struck them at a village under Chandradeep police station area here today, police said.

The victims were planting paddy saplings in a field when lightning struck them, Chandradeep police station in-charge Sanjay Vishwas said.

The deceased have been identified as Savitri Kumari (18), Sabita Kumari (30) and Malo Devi (35), he said.

Another woman Pramila Devi sustained burn injuries after she was struck by lighting, he said, adding she has been hospitalised.

Meanwhile, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Ravi Prasad has given an ex-gratia assistance of Rs 20,000 each to the kins of victims, besides Rs 3,000 for cremation of the bodies under Kabir Antyesthi Yojana.
 

Yesterday, four women were killed and two others sustained burn injuries after lightning struck them in Motihari district of the state.
