3 women pilgrims killed, 17 injured in road mishap in Haryana

Three women pilgrims were today killed and 17 others injured when a jeep rammed a stationary truck near Dariyapur village here, police said.

The incident occurred in the wee hours today when 20 people in the jeep were returning after visiting a religious place in Gogamedi of Rajasthan to Meerut in UP, they said.

Mahkar Singh, driver of the jeep who was also injured, said that he was unable to see properly due to headlights of vehicles coming from opposite direction and by the time he saw the parked truck it was too late and the vehicle rammed into it, police said.
 

One Shakuntala died on the spot while Mukesh and Kashmiri, who were rushed to a hospital, died while undergoing treatment, they said.

Some of the injured have been admitted to hospitals here while rests were referred to PGI Khanpur, they said, adding that condition of a minor is serious.
