Three youth, including an MBA from Singapore, were arrested for alleged drug trafficking after 275 gm of 'Amphetamine', a banned drug worth Rs 30 lakh, was recovered from them.

Two accused, identified as Prabhat (22) and Shubham Nath (20), both of whom are pursuing Mass Communication course in a reputed institute, were arrested by the police on Wednesday.

"We had received a tip-off that the duo who live in Rohini, would come near Japanese Park, Rohini, in a car to deliver Amphetamine. A team laid a trap at the spot and nabbed them. 80 gm of the drug was recovered from the possession of Prabhat and 103 gm from Shubham," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.

Both of them hail from Patna (Bihar) and had resorted to supply of drugs to earn easy money for leading a lavish lifestyle. On sustained interrogation, they revealed that the said drug was supplied to them by one Tapan Mudgal.

Following this, Tapan Mudgal (28), a resident of Pitampura who is an MBA from Singapore, was also arrested by the team at the instance of Shubham and 92 gm of Amphetamine was recovered from his possession.

"He is in the business of importing surgical equipments. Recently, he indulged in supply of drugs to earn easy money in a short span," said Yadav.

According to police, Amphetamine stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brains) by increasing the amount of certain chemicals in the body.

This drug is used in rave parties by youths as it is cheaper than cocaine. Young party-goers inhale this drug which enthralls them and lets them remain awake in parties till morning and leads to insomnia.

"The trio disclosed that they were supplying drugs to party-goers for the last two months. College students and young boys of rich families are using this drug now-a-days. For medical purposes, it is taken orally or through nasal inhalation but for recreational activities, it is also consumed in insufflations and intravenous," said Yadav.

Further investigation is in progress to identify other persons involved in the racket.
