Nearly 30 lakh adolescent children studying in government and aided schools in Punjab will be covered under the special deworming drive across the state on December 5, a senior health official today said.
"The day is being observed as deworming day in the state," Vini Mahajan, Punjab's Principal Secretary, Health and Finance, said here.
She said 'Albendazole' tablets will be given to all children of age 5 years to 19 years in government and government-aided schools along with Anganwadi Centres.
Besides, information and counselling for improving dietary intake and education regarding prevention of intestinal worm infestation will be given to such adolescents and children, she said.
