Thirty industrial units in Narela Zone of the national capital have been sealed by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) for allegedly illegally storing and recycling plastic, the civic body said today.

The action was taken with help from the local police in pursuance of an order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) regarding plastic collection and burning in Mundka and Nangloi areas.

Besides, notices have been sent directing the owner or occupants of such units to stop unauthorised activities like storing, segregating, recycling and burning of plastic or rubber waste in areas such as Nangloi, Mundka, Tikri Kalan and Ghevra, among others, the NDMC said in a statement.

Electricity and water connection lines of the units would be disconnected by the respective agencies as future action, the corporation said, adding it has also requested the local police to keep a strict vigil on these units.

The sealing action will continue in future, it said.

Apart from this, the Department of Environment Management Service of Narela Zone has also taken action against open unregulated burning of plastic or rubber in these areas.
