31,000 motorists booked during Holi in Delhi

The Delhi Traffic Police booked over 31,000 motorists for various offences, out of which 2,407 were booked for drunken driving during Holi.

"While 13,726 persons were prosecuted on Holi, 17,855 persons were booked on the festival eve on various charges. A total of 2,190 motorists were booked for drunken driving yesterday, while 217 motorists were booked the evening before," police said.

While 236 persons were challaned on Holi for red light jumping, 536 were challaned for the same offence the evening before, they said.

Almost 335 persons were booked for over-speeding last night, 330 motorists were booked for the same offence day before yesterday, police said.
 

While 189 persons were prosecuted for dangerous driving yesterday, 654 were booked for it day before yesterday.

The Delhi Traffic Police had deployed more than 200 teams with alcometers and 11 interceptors were used to check drunken driving and over-speeding in the national capital during the festival of colours.
