At least 31 "objectionable videos" have been made viral on social media in Odisha in the past three months, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told the Assembly today.
Patnaik, while replying a written question of Congress MLA Bhujabal Majhi, said 124 cybercrime cases have been registered in different police stations of the state during this period and 19 people have been arrested in connection with these cases so far.
The Odisha Police has recently issued an advisory to generate awareness on the safe use of Internet among people, especially the youths.
An obscene video clip featuring a reality television show winner went viral on social media earlier this month. The incidents sent shockwaves across the state, but the police said no complaint has been lodged in the matter by the woman or her family members.
