32 held in raid at bar

As many as 32 people, including 17

women, were arrested in a raid at a bar here, police said today.

A team of officials of Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC), Thane raided Varsha Bar and Restaurant at camp no.3 in Ulhasnagar township late last night and nabbed 32 people, which include the bar manager, cashier, five waiters, eight customers and 17 girls, senior inspector Thane AHTC SI Shaikh.

The bar was allegedly conducting business in violation of the set regulations and customers were found behaving in an indecent and objectionable manner, he said, adding that cash of around Rs 40,000 was also recovered from the spot.
 

An offence has been registered in this regard under IPC section 294 (obscene acts), and 346 (wrongful confinement) and relevant sections of Maharashtra Police Act, Shaikh added.
