32 mills penalised for irregularities in milling of rice

Strict actions have been initiated against 32 rice mills for its failure to meet the target of milled rice under the CMR against availability of paddy among various irregularities the Principal Secretary (Food and Consumer Protection) Shishir Sinha said.

The decision to crack whip against the errant mills was taken at a review meeting presided over by the Food and Consumer Protection Minister Shyam Rajak, he said.

The minister also directed about 307 godowns for storage of foodgrains to mandatorily instal weighing machines to proper account for quantity of the grains stocked there, Sinha said, adding that nearly 40 per cent godowns were found to have met the requirement for weighing machines.

 

Rajak also pulled by the officials for delay in compilation of all 2.43 crore PDS rationcard holders in Bihar and said that it should be done at the earliest so that the doorstep delivery of foodgrains could begin soon.
