Madhya Pradesh School Education Department has issued notices to 32 school teachers in Indore division, who were found absent from work for a long time without intimation or permission.

"During the surprise inspections carried out since the past one year, we have found 32 teachers remaining absent for a long time from their duties without any intimation. We have sent notices to all these teachers," Joint Director of the state School Education Department, K K Pandey said.

A number of teachers in the division did not report for duties for years, he said.

Listing a couple of examples, Pandey said, a senior teacher Sangita Kashyap (46) posted in Ahilya Ashram School No 1 did not report to work for the last 23 years and another higher grade teacher, Rachna Dube (42), has been absent since the last 10 years.

According to Pandey, a probe was launched against them and charge sheets, too, were sent to teachers for their long term absence.

The department has initiated disciplinary action against them and their promotions and salary hikes have been stopped, he said.
