The information was provided by the Maharashtra Health Department to Balaghat officials following reports that large number of women were taking gender determination tests in neighbouring Gondia city.
These tests were conducted at three sonography centres which were closed by Gondia authorities following reports that these centres were engaged in such activities.
Balaghat's Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) K K Khosla has sought more information from the Maharashtra government in order to take legal action against them.
On the basis of details received from Maharashtra, a block wise probe is on to verify the list and also if the women got abortions done after identifying that they carried female foetuses, the CMHO added.
