33 booked for damaging crops of a farmer in Punjab

A case was registered today against 33 persons for allegedly damaging the crops belonging to a farmer at Bhaet Pattan village under the Sri Hargobindpur police station here.

According to police, Qadian block samiti chairman Kamaljit Singh Pawar, its superintendent Parminder Singh and panchayat secretary Rajwinder Singh on Monday went to one Chain Singh's land accompanied by 30 armed persons and allegedly started damaging the crops.

Some of the accused also allegedly fired in the air but escaped when villagers turned up to resist them, police said.

A case under Arms Act has been registered against the 33 accused although no arrest have so far been made in the case.
