33-year-old killed, five arrested

Five persons have been arrested for killing a 33-year-old man in Shriram Nagar locality here, the police said on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Pankaj Narayan Kondalkar.

Kondalkar and the accused used to drink liquor at the same outlet, a local police official said.

Kondalkar had had quarrels with Vishal Tumde (25), one of the accused, and allegedly threatened to kill him on a few occasions, investigation revealed.

Vishal and his friends Nitin Tule (49), Amol Kohale (30), Akash More (23) and Amit Pal (25), all residents of Gargoti area of Narsala, allegedly hatched a plan to kill Kondalkar, the official added.

Akash allegedly went to Kondalkar's house on Monday night, carrying a bottle of liquor, and the two drank, he said.

 

Akash then left the house, and at his signal, Vishal, Nitin, Amol and Amit allegedly went in and attacked Kondalkar with sharp weapons before fleeing, the official said.

Neighbours rushed Kondalkar to hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

The police soon arrested the five accused under section 302 of IPC (murder) and further probe was on.
