As many as 331 missing children were rescued by police from different parts of Uttarakhand lasr month as part of its drive Operation Smile which traces missing children and reunites them with their families.
Out of the children rescued between June 1 and June 30, 280 have been reunited with their families and the remaining 51 who are unregistered have been admitted in child rehabilitation centres, a release from the state police headquarters here said.
Information is being gathered about the families of unregistered children who have been found, it said.

One hundred and forty seven of the recovered children are from outside Uttarakhand including from Bihar, Delhi, Nepal, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Assam and West Bengal, it said.
Police has deployed 26 search teams in 13 districts of the state as part of the operation.
