The police today seized 34 cartons of liquor including five cartons of beer from Kishanganj district where alcoholic beverages were banned.

Acting on a tip off, the police arrested two liquor smugglers and seized the cartons of liquor valued at Rs 1.85 lakh from the bus stand of Kishanganj town, Superintendent of Police Rajiv Mishra said.

An SUV carrying the cartons was also seized.

During interrogation, the smugglers told the police that the liquor cartons were being transported to Supaul in Bihar from Panjipara in West Bengal via Kishanganj.

These smugglers had planned to sell the liquor in Kosi-Seemanchal area, the police said.

The Bihar police and Excise officials have been on hunt to check smuggling of liquor from other states ever since prohibition was implemented in Bihar in April 2016.
