A 34-year-old married woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her house at Hayat Nagar of Khoda colony, police said today.
The incident took place last night when Seema, a mother of two, locked herself in a room and committed suicide, Khoda police station officer Ummed Singh Yadav said.
Seema, a resident of Delhi, was married to Suresh twelve years ago. Due to some petty domestic issues between the two, their relations were strained, he said.
Last night after dinner, both of them exchanged heated arguments following which Seema went to the room and locked herself, he said, adding in the morning, when her family members forced open the door, she was found hanging from a ceiling fan.
Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
In his written complaint, father of the deceased Suresh Kumar has alleged that his son-in-law was regularly harassing his daughter to bring money.
An FIR under section 306 IPC (abetment of suicide) has been registered against her husband, the officer added.
