Around 35,000 school students and 1500 physically challenged persons will take part in the Vadodara Marathon here tomorrow.

According to the organisers, 74149 registrations were done on digital platform and through cashless transactions, including 1000 military and paramilitary jawans.

Not only that, it has become AIMS-accredited first full marathon in Gujarat.

The marathon received 8100 corporate registrations, 13822 registrations from 39 NGOs, 50-plus registrations from colleges, 4205 registrations from religious organisations, 209 registrations from lawyer associations, 3000 direct online registrations, 65-plus international registrations, 96-plus relay registrations and 150 plus registrations from other sources.

"This marathon is AIMS certified and its representative had visited the route in the city several days ago. With this, the timing of the participants who complete the full marathon or half marathon would be used as approved time to qualify in international marathons like in New York, Boston, Hong Kong or standard chartered marathons," Tejal Amin, an official from the organisers, told PTI.

Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will flag off the country's first cashless and digital open marathon to be held from Navlakhi compound.
