35 injured as bus falls into ditch in C'garh

Thirty-five people were injured when a bus carrying a marriage party plunged into a ditch in Korba district of Chhattisgarh.

The incident occurred at a valley on Ramkachhar road when the bus was proceeding from Telsara village to the bride's place at Baisemar under Pali police station limits of the district last evening, Pali police station-in-charge BS Marawi said.

Thirty-five of the 100 passengers on board were injured in the incident, he said, adding, 13 of them who were critically injured were referred to a hospital at Ballarpur.

When the bus, belonging to a private travel agency, reached near the hilly region of Pali police station area, the driver lost control and it fell into a ditch.
 

The bus driver has been arrested, he said, adding a case under sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC has been registered against him.
