35 LS, eight Assembly candidates file nominations in Gujarat

Thirty-five candidates for Lok Sabha and and eight for Assembly by-polls today filed their nomination papers in Gujarat.

Thirteen candidates from Congress, seven from BJP, 13 independents, one candidate each from Vishwa Hindustani Sangathan and Republican Party of India (A) filed nomination papers for Lok Sabha, officials said.

Union Minister Bharat Solanki file papers from Anand Lok Sabha seat.

Former Ahmedabad Mayor and Congress candidate from Ahmedabad East Himmatsinh Patel, who is pitted against actor Paresh Rawal (BJP), also filed his nominations.

Other Congress candidates who filed their nominations for Lok Sabha were Dinesh Parmar from Kutch, Joita Patel from Banaskantha, Bhavsinh Rathod from Patan, Jiva Patel from Mehsana, Pravin Rathod from Bhavnagar and Jayesh Patel from Bharuch.
 

Ramsinh Rathwa filed nomination from Chhota Udepur.

BJP's Haribhai Chaudhary (Banaskantha) and Mansukh Vasava (Chhota Udepur) also filed their nomination papers.

So far 54 candidates have filed nominations for Lok Sabha in the state.

For Assembly by-polls, two candidates of Janata Dal United and six independents filed their nominations.
