35 quintals of adulterated sweets seized in Ghaziabad, 1 held

Ahead of Diwali, the food safety department of Uttar Pradesh conducted raids in two houses here today, seized 35 quintals of adulterated sweets and arrested one person.

Rajesh Kumar Agrahari, an officer of the food safety department, said the raids were conducted in Sangam Park and Adarsh Nagar of Khoda Colony.

The sweets were stored in unhygienic conditions, he said.

A part of the seized sweets was to be delivered to shops in Delhi and NCR.

A truck in which adulterated sweets were being transported to Delhi was also seized near Duhai village on the Delhi- Meerut road and its driver, Tehseen, was arrested, the officer said.
