35-year-old man killed over poll rivalry in UP

A 35-year-old man was killed and his brother injured after they were allegedly attacked with sharp weapons over election rivalry in Mehdawal area.

Dhudhnath was killed and his brother Dhinath (25) seriously injured after being attacked when they were returning after immersing Goddess Laxmi idols in Baandoomer village last night, Station officer Lal Bachan Dhuciya said.

The duo was attacked due to a possible rivalry over the Panchayat polls in the state, he said.

The injured has been admitted in a hospital, police said.

Ram Bechan and his son Virendra have been taken into custody in the matter, they said, adding that probe was on in the matter.
