350 swine flu cases in UP, death toll mounts to 10

The number of swine flu patients in Uttar Pradesh today rose to 350, with the state capital alone accounting for 273 cases, while the death toll reached 10 in the state.

"36 new patients of H1N1 virus have been detected in Uttar Pradesh. Of them, 29 are from Lucknow and one each from Bareilly, Agra, Allahabad, Varanasi, Shahjahanpur, Badaun and Lalitpur districts," a health department official said.

He said the total number of cases in the state has gone up to 350, the maximum of 273 being reported in Lucknow, where leave of all the health department officials has been cancelled.
 

According to the health department, 1,008 patients were screened. Of them, 350 have tested positive while 10 persons have died so far due to the H1N1 in the state.

The deadly virus has affected 19 districts. Six deaths have been reported from Lucknow while one each from Saharanpur, Bareilly, Kanpur and Badaun districts.

The state government has directed the local bodies and municipal corporations to launch a cleanliness campaign throughout the state.
