Maharashtra government plans to create 36 district committees to clear pending cases of validity certificates to scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and other backward caste candidates, official sources said here today.

The decision is significant since it would reduce the waiting period for such certificates, sources said.

There are only nine functioning validity certificate committees, sources said, adding that the number of pending cases is 1.03 lakh.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadnavis has ordered creation of 36 district committees under 36 additional collectors for every district.

These posts of additional collectors would be specifically set up for the purpose, sources said.

"He has ordered all pending cases to be cleared in three months," sources said.
