As many as 368 booths have been set up for pulse polio immunisation of 36,684 children below the age of five in Kishtwar district from January 18 to 20.

"The estimated population of the children below five years in all the health blocks of Kishtwar is 36,684 for which 368 vaccination booths have been established," Chief Medical Officer Kishtwar Sham Prasad Gupta, said.

He said a total of 1,572 booth team members, including 695 Aanganwari workers, 207 health workers, 322 teachers and 248 ASHA workers would be deployed to carry out the immunisation process in the district.

"For this, 74 supervisors and six mobile teams with one supervisor will be pressed into service. A total number of 40,000 Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) doses would be required for the first round in all the health blocks of Kishtwar, Padder, Dachhan and Chatroo," he said.

The health department would impart necessary training to the workers to ensure the campaign is effective.

"The members would strictly ensure that each and every child under five years gets the polio drops and special emphasis would be given to the far flung rural areas," he said.
