: A total of 37 nominations for the lone seat in Puducherry for the Lok Sabha elections and 11 nominations for the Thattanchavady bypolls have been filed so far.
Tuesday was the last date for the filing of nominations for the election and the bypoll are to be held simultaneously on April 18.
The bypoll was necessitated for the Thattanchavady seat after the sitting AINRC legislator Ashok Anand was convicted in November last year by a special CBI court here in a disproportionate assets case.
Scrutiny of nominations relating to both the Lok Sabha and the byelection would be held Wednesday while March 29 is the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
