The number of civilians killed in Saudi-led air strikes on a missile depot in the Yemeni capital has risen to 38, with a further 532 wounded, medics said today.
The new toll for the yesterday's raid, based on figures from four hospitals, updated an earlier count of 28 dead and around 300 wounded.
Among the dead were three employees of Al-Yemen Al-Yawm television channel, one of them a journalist.
The twin strikes sparked powerful explosions that flattened nearby houses and shook faraway neighbourhoods.
The base belongs to the missile brigade of the elite Republican Guard, which remains loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh who has been accused of siding with Huthi rebels in their fight against the government.
In the fourth week of the Saudi-led campaign against the rebels, warplanes hit several positions belonging to Huthi rebels and pro-Saleh troops across the capital today, witnesses said.
Riyadh last month assembled a Sunni Arab coalition that launched an air war against the rebels as they closed in on embattled President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi in his refuge in the southern port city of Aden, which he has since fled for Saudi Arabia.
