4.85 lakh students to take IGNOU exams

A total of 4.85 lakh students will appear in IGNOU examinations commencing from June 1, at 850 examination centres in the country and 32 centres abroad.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), the largest university in the world, will conduct examinations in 3,936 courses and the total number of answer scripts expected is 21 lakh, an official of the university said.

The examinations will conclude on June 27.

There are 2,782 students appearing for the examinations at overseas centres including those at Kathmandu, Ethiopia, Kuwait, Qatar, Jeddah and Oman. Besides, exam centres have also been established in countries like Mauritius, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sudan, Cameroon, Uganda, Botswana, Ivory Coast and Namibia, the university official said.
 

Also, 87 centres have been established in jails for 6,154 inmates. The highest number of inmates from Meerut jail centre at 581, followed by Allahabad and Aligarh 336 each, Tihar 246, Kota 233, Bareilly 222 and Varanasi 198, she said.

Hall Tickets have been uploaded on the University website www.Ignou.Ac.In and they have also been sent to each student by post.

Students can appear the examination on production of university identity card and the downloaded hall ticket, the official added.
