4 alleged drug peddlers held

Delhi Police arrested four alleged drug traffickers and recovered banned drugs worth Rs 12 crore from them including one kg heroin, in two separate operations.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Rampal (48), Ved Prakash alias Mistri (38) and Sabrati Shah alias Sabir (41) and claimed to have busted an inter-state narcotics syndicate.

Police said they have registered a case under NDPS Act against them after one kg heroin and five kg opium have been recovered from the trio in this connection.

"We had information about this syndicate for the last six months about drug trafficking activities of the syndicate which was active in Delhi, UP and MP. Surveillance was kept on movements of one Delhi-based member of the syndicate Rampal and his associate drug suppliers," said DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.
 

Rampal was arrested on May 24 when he came on his bike under Loni Flyover to deliver a consignment of heroin. One kg heroin was recovered from his possession.

During interrogation, he disclosed that he had brought the heroin from one Ved Prakash of Bareilly, UP. He has a good network of supply of heroin in Delhi, Haryana, UP, Rajasthan and MP, Yadav said. Rampal used to get supply of heroin from various persons in UP and MP, he added.

In continuation of investigation in the case, a police team was sent to Bareilly, which arrested Ved Prakash on May 27.

Rampal had also disclosed that he used to get supply of opium and heroin from Subrati Shah, a resident of Mandsore, MP. Subrati Shah was arrested on May 29 from near Khajuri Chowk, Delhi, at the instance of Rampal and five kg opium was recovered from his possession. He had to deliver the drug to Rampal.

Efforts to arrest other associates of the arrested persons are being made, police said.
