Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB) Jagdish Soni said the Andhra Pradesh police team apprehended jewellers Shravan Soni and Ram Niwas from Jodhpur on Friday in a case of robbery of around 3 kg gold in Vishakhapatnam.
"But, they asked for a bribe of Rs 1.40 lakh from Ram Niwas to acquit him of the charges," Soni said, adding Niwas then lodged a complaint with the ACB.
According to Soni, the policemen had previously taken Rs 60,000 from Niwas and were to receive another Rs 80,000 at a restaurant in the Boranad area here.
Following the verification of the complaint, a trap was laid and all the four police personnel were arrested red- handed this morning, the DSP said.
