4 arrested for threatening JNU student with rape

Four persons have been arrested in connection with a complaint filed by a JNU student alleging she was threatened with rape by a group of men in Surajkund area of Faridabad.

The woamn had alleged in her complaint that she was threatened with rape and six of her friends were roughed up by a group of locals near Bhardwaj Lake in Asola on the evening of August 14.

The arrests were made by Surajkund police, said Faridabad Commissioner of Police Hanif Qureshi.

The arrested accused - Sachin, 20, Pramod, 35, Dipak, 30, and Harish, 40, were arrested in separate raids on their hideouts, said Surajkund police station in-charge Pankaj Kumar.
 

The woman had filed a complaint at Vasant Kunj (North) police station in Delhi. She had alleged that her complaint was not registered by Surajkund police and her character was questioned by a policeman there and that she was made to tender an apology.

A sub-inspector of Surajkund police station Suresh Kumar was yesterday suspended for allegedly failing to take note of the complaint by the woman.

Later, a zero FIR was registered by Delhi police on her complaint and was then transferred to Haryana police.
