The Shimla police today claimed to have solved the murder of a woman schoolteacher who was shot dead in broad daylight on May 21, and arrested four persons in this connection.

Police had interrogated many suspects in this case, and finally zeroed in on four persons -- Pratap Singh (37), Vinod Kumar (24), Sanklap Goel (19) and Mita Ram (22).

During the course of investigation, the four confessed to their crime, police claimed.

Police have recovered the pistol used in the crime from the native place of Pratap Singh, and live cartridge recovered from the pistol matches the cartridge recovered from the residence of the deceased.

Police claimed that Pratap Singh, along with his three friends, shot Shushma Sharma inside her home on May 21 after he had a heated argument with her.
