Four suspected drug peddlers were arrested today in separate incidents and two kg of opium and 10 kg of 'Doda Post' were seized from their possession, an official said.
Acting on the directives of DGP B S Sandhu, a crackdown was launched against smuggling of narcotics in Haryana's Sirsa district and especially in the areas bordering Rajasthan and Punjab.
Among the accused was Sanjay Kumar whose wife is a 'sarpanch' of Khuian Malkana village, the official said.
The crime investigation agency of Sirsa arrested Mohan Lal of Jodhpur district in Rajasthan and Gurdeep Singh, a native of Khuian Malkana, and seized two kg of opium worth Rs 6 lakh from their car in Dabwali area, he said.
In another incident, police arrested a person carrying 10 kg of 'Doda Post' in Sirsa, he said.
The accused was identified as Raja Singh, a resident of Jajal in Punjab.
The four accused persons were booked under the NDPS Act, the official added.
