Four blasts including at least one caused by a car bomb hit near a Shiite sanctuary south of Syria's capital Damascus today, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said.

State television said "three terrorists attacks" near the Sayyida Zeinab shrine had left dead and wounded, without providing a toll.

At the end of January, bombings claimed by the Islamic State jihadist group killed at least 70 people near the same sanctuary.

Sayyida Zeinab contains the grave of a granddaughter of the Prophet Mohammed and is particularly revered as a pilgrimage site by Shiite Muslims.
