Police booked four persons and resorted to mild force when supporters of jailed BJP leader Kunvar Singh Nishad tried to meet him without permission in a lock-up here today.

"An FIR has been registered against four persons for obstructing the official work and indulging in a scuffle... All the four accused will be arrested soon," Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajai Pal Sharma said.

Trouble began this afternoon when supporters of the BJP leader, arrested in connection with the violence during a farmers' agitation near Gokul Barrage a few weeks ago, tried to meet him in the lock-up and police did not give permission.

Soon an altercation ensued leading to a scuffle, the police officer said, adding a large force of police personnel rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.

The BJP leader was lodged in the lock-up before production in a court.
