The mishap took place as the vehicle rammed into the shelter in Sukhasan village causing its roof to cave in trapping under the debris some children and other people sitting there, a police officer said.
While four children were killed on the spot, five others, including an elderly person, sustained injuries and they were admitted to nearby hospitals.
Efforts were on to ascertain the identity of the victims.
