4-day intl art exhibition begins in Jammu

Labour and Employment minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today inaugurated a four-day international art exhibition in Jammu.

The fourth Mufti Mohammad Sayeed memorial international art exhibition, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Art (JKCCA), was inaugurated here at Kala Kendra.

The exhibition boasts works of local, national and foreign artists and sculptures.

In his inaugural address, Bukhari said the late leader had a deep insight into art and literature which reflected in his close association with people of diverse fields in art and literature.

"By holding this annual event you have reciprocated to the great respect our leader had for the art and artists," he said while congratulating the organisers.

 

Highlighting the importance of art and artists in a civilized society, Bukhari said their art works were a wake-up call to the current and future generations about the evils that might have infested humanity.

"Artists speak through their work which generally highlights need for reforms in social conduct, our connection with the environment and surroundings and the human emotions," he said, while referring to the art works displayed in the exhibition.

Bukhari invited the JKCCA to hold similar a event in Srinagar, while announcing that Higher Education Department would provide the venue atSP heritage College.

He also announced Rs two lakh as assistance to the organisation for promoting art and culture in the state.
