4 dead, 5 injured in road accident

Four persons died and five were today injured in an accident involving a dumper truck, a car and a motorbike on Anand-Bavla highway at Sanand near here, police said.

The mishap occurred when the dumper truck, being driven carelessly, rammed into a car and a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, Sanand Police Inspector B S Jadav said.

Three persons in car heading for Sanand Water Park and the motorcycle-rider died on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Afzal Husain Momin (30), Munaf Sarvaiyya( 20), Vasim Mansuri (30) and Babu Thakor (45).

Thakor was returning to his village Rahemalpur in Viramgam after distributing invites for his son's wedding at Soila village, Jadav said.
 

The injured were admitted to a private hospital in Sanand.

Police have registered a criminal complaint against the driver of the dumper truck, who fled from the accident site.
