Four persons drowned in the Narmada river here when they had gone to take a bath, government officials said today.
Four other persons are also feared to have drowned in the river and a search is on to trace them, they said.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place this afternoon when a group of 32 people, hailing from Ahmedabad, went to take bath at Nareshwar of Karjan tehsil around 60 km from here, Karjan tehsil Mamlatdar (senior official) K D Merchant told PTI over phone.

Four bodies have been fished out while search is underway to trace the remaining four persons, Merchant said.
The deceased have been identified as Kaushik Jadhav (29), Jainish Pravinbhai Narola, Alpesh Prajapati (42) and Praful Bavasiya (35).
"A team of swimmers of Vadodara Municipal Corporation and local swimmers are pressed into service to trace the missing persons," the officer said.
