4 drug peddlers arrested from Baramulla

Four drug peddlers were arrested today and large quantities of banned drugs recovered from their possession in north Kashmir Baramulla district, police said.

In its drive against drug menace, police arrested four peddlers and recovered large quantity of drugs, meant for sale among the youth, from them in Sopore township of the district, a police spokesman said here.

He said on a tip off, police established a check-point at Adipora village and during the checking, intercepted a Santro car from which large quantity of prescription drugs were recovered.

The recoveries includes two bottles, one litre each, of Codeine Phosphate, 20 small bottles of Codeine Phosphate and 2040 tablets of Aprozolam, the spokesman said.
 

He said four peddlers, who were transporting the drugs in the car, were taken into custody.

The arrested peddlers were identified as Mehraj-u-din Khanday, Bashir Ahmad - both residents of Jalalabad area of Sopore, Rafiq Mir, a resident of Adipora and Bashir Bhat resident of Chinkipora, Sopore.

On their questioning, it surfaced that the accused used to sell these prescription drugs among the youth of the area, the spokesman said.
