Four alleged drug peddlers were arrested today with three kg of charas in Bandipora district of north Kashmir.

On a tip-off about movement of drug smugglers in the area, police intercepted a car near Hajin, 35 kms from here, on Srinagar-Bandipora road, a police spokesman said.

He said the search of the vehicle led to the recovery of three kg of charas and a cash of Rs 40,050.

"All the four smugglers in the car were arrested," the spokesman said, adding that a case under NDPS act was registered against them in Hajin police station.

During investigations, the accused turned out to be "notorious drug smugglers" who were finalising a drug deal, the spokesman said.

"The contraband was to be smuggled to Srinagar city for sale among the addicted youth," he said.
