The police said Santanu Pradhan (23), Rabin Das (33), Kalipada Das (27) and Bibhas Paira (27) drowned after their boat capsized on December 12 near Kedo island in the Bay of Bengal.

Coast Guard personnel and other fishermen continued to search for them and the bodies were fished out yesterday, police said.

These residents of Dakshin Sitarampur village in Pathar Pratima block of Sundarbans in South 24-Parganas district and six others went to catch fish in the sea, West Bengal United Fishermen Association president Joykrishna Haldar said.

Their boat capsized when a huge wave hit their trawler early in the morning. Three persons who remained afloat by holding a water tank were rescued by other fishermen but seven others went missing.

Three fishermen are still missing and a search for them is on, the police said.
