Convicting Madan Singh, Jitender Kumar, Yashveer Singh and Jaipal Singh under different Sections of the IPC, the court also directed that the victim is to be paid Rs 20,000 as compensation and Rs 10,000 each to other two injured persons.

Acting on Allahabad High Court's directive, the CBI had on January 25, 1995 registered a case and taken up the investigation.

It was alleged that on October 2, 1994, Uttrakhand Sangharsh Samiti had organised a rally at Delhi and people from hill areas were proceeding to the national capital to attend it.

"The ralliests were stopped by police near Rampur Tiraha in District Muzaffarnagar (UP), where incidents of rape, molestation had taken place," a CBI spokesperson said in a release today.

 

Following reports of the incident, supporters of Uttarakhand Movement had assembled on October 3, 1994 morning in Karanpur area.

According to CBI, following imposition of curfew and seeing the police, the agitators started running in the bylane towards the residence of the then National Secretary of a political party and started pelting stones besides shouting slogans against him. (MORE)
