4 held for gangrape of teenager

Four persons were arrested for alleged gangrape of a teenaged girl near MKCG Medical College ground here five days ago, police said today.

The gangrape of the 17-year-old girl took place under BN Pur area on Tuesday evening and the survivor lodged a police complaint on Thursday after which the four were arrested yesterday.

The accused were identified as Bena Bahadur (55), owner of an ambulance, Satya Patra (20), driver of the ambulance, Manoj Kumar Jena (30), an worker of a motor-garage and Silu Behera (21) alias Kalia, said SP (Berhampur) Sarthak Sarangi.

The accused persons belong to different villages near the town but they have been staying in Berhampur for the past several years. Several other cases were pending against Bena, the main accused in the rape case, said AK Mishra, inspector-in charge of BN Pur police station.
