Four persons were today arrested for allegedly possessing and smuggling morphine worth Rs 60 lakh during a police raid conducted in Ishwargangi locality under Jaitpura police station, police said.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh D Modak said a joint team of Varanasi crime branch and Jaitpura police station on a tip off raided a house belonging to Shivshanker Rajbhar alias Munau and arrested him and three others.
500 gm of morphine, a narcotic, worth Rs 60 lakh in local market and Rs 8,01,370 cash were recovered from them, the SSP said, adding 18 mobile phone sets were also found, Modak added.
