4 held on betting charges in Haryana

Haryana Police today arrested four persons here for allegedly indulging in betting on South Africa-Ireland World Cup match.

Those arrested have been identified as Purushottam, Gobind, Pawan (resident of Bhadra Bazaar) and Vijay (resident of Rania gate, Sirsa), an official spokesman said.

Acting on a tip off, a police team reached a house near Bhadra Bazaar in Sirsa and nabbed the accused along with the things used for betting.

Police recovered 12 mobile phones, about Rs 1.5 lakh cash, a laptop, one LCD and dairy from the spot.

A case has been registered against the accused in this connection, he said, adding police is interrogating them and also trying to nab other persons linked in their network through mobiles and dairy recovered from the spot.
