4 held on extortion charges

Four persons were today arrested in connection with an extortion case, police said today.

According to a police complaint, the accused used to allegedly make extortion calls to former Gurgaon District (Urban) Congress Committee President Madan Lal Grover demanding Rs 10 crore from him.

The four accused have been identified as - Harish Addlakha from Gurgaon, Lalit from Darbhanga (Bihar), Aman from Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) and Harish from Almora (Uttarakand).

Addlakha, who is said to be the gang's mastermind, had allegedly called Grover on August 21 and threatened to eliminate him and his family members if he failed to pay them the extortion money, he said.
 

Acting on a tip-off, police reached Wazirabad village Crossing near Sector 56 where the accused were supposed to reach and nabbed them after a car chase, Gurgaon Police Commissioner Alok Mittal said.

One Swift Dzire car, two motorcyles, eleven mobile phones and 14 SIM cards have been seized from their possession, he added.
