4 including a woman sent to Tihar for power theft

Surendra Kumar, a resident of Milan Garden here, and two Bhajanpura residents Habib Khan and Munni Singh have been remanded to judicial custody in Tihar Jail till October 26 by different special courts.

Khichdipur resident Jasbeer Chaudhary was not only remanded to judicial custody but also directed to pay a fine of Rs three lakh to the discom by another special court, BSES has said in a release.

The discom has said that Kumar was caught stealing 38 KW of electricity on 20 January 2012 by an enforcement team of BSES and a penalty of Rs 24 lakh was imposed on him.

 

As he had failed to pay the fine, a complaint was lodged against him with the police and he was arrested and produced before the special court, it has said.

Munni Singh and Habib Khan had been caught stealing electricity to the tune of 7 KW from their residence on October 17 last year and were fined Rs 1.5 lakh, which they had not paid and a complaint was lodged against them as well with the police, the discom has said.

The duo were later arrested and produced before a special court which had remanded them to judicial custody, it has said.

Khichdipur resident Jasbeer Chaudhary was caught stealing 36 KW of electricity in December 2006.
