4 Indians die as tractor falls in canal on Indo-Nepal border

Four Indian nationals were killed and 23 others sustained injuries�when a tractor carrying a funeral procession, fell into the Gandak canal near the Nepal-India border today.

According to Nepal Police Spokesman Keshav Adhikari three people died on the spot while one died on way to hospital.

Five of the seriously injured are undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Medical College in Chitwan while others are being treated at local health posts.

He said there were 27 people travelling in the tractor from the border area of Maharangunj�district�in Uttar Pradesh as part of a funeral procession to perform the last rites of a person who had died in Nepal's Nawalparasi district.
 

The accident occurred when the tractor was giving side to a bus coming from opposite direction.
