4 injured in Nepal quake

Four persons from Kendrapara district were injured in the powerful earthquake that rocked Nepal as the Odisha government has asked all the district collectors to gather information about people from the state staying in the Himalayan Kingdom.

As per the information received from Collector, Kendrapara district, about 335 persons of Pattamundai and Aul Blocks of the district are staying in Nepal, a statement issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) P K Mohapatra said.

Of them, four persons - Bulu Kumar Sethi of Pattamundai block, Khiroda Behera, Manoj Behera, Mamata Behera of Aul block - have suffered minor injuries while the others are safe, Mohapatra said.
 

Meanwhile, three persons of Balangir district - Bidhubhusan Mohapatra, his wife Pragnya Paramita Guru and their child Adrika Mohapatra - had taken shelter in a relief camp at Etimore, Lalippur, Nepal and were in need of help, he said.

Their case for safe transfer to India has been taken up with the Centre through the Chief Resident Commissioner at New Delhi, he said.

"A 24-hour helpline has been set up in the office of the Chief Resident Commissioner, Odisha Government, New Delhi (Landline: 011-24679201-EPABX, Extn-04; Mob:07803850005) to facilitate the persons from Odisha on their return from Nepal," he said.
