4 kg gold bricks recovered from International smugglers

Four kg gold bricks bearing mark of Switzerland and valued at over Rs 1.25 crore were recovered today at Sugauli Railway station in Bihar's East Champaran district, the railway police said.

Acting on a tip-off, the government railway police raided the Howrah bound Raxual-Howrah express at Sugauli station and arrested two smugglers, Muzaffarpur Railway Superintendent of Police Birendra Narayan Jha said.

The arrested have been identified as Sumit Goenka and Awdesh Kumar, both residents of Muzaffarpur.

The two were hiding one gold brick weighing one kg in each shoe they were wearing, the Rail SP said.

Jha said that during interrogation the smugglers said that they received the consingment from one Santosh Jain at Birganj (Nepal) and going to deliver it to one Dhiraj at Muzaffarpur.
